Station 03 · Instrument Log

If it is not calibrated, it does not touch a result.

Instrument Log keeps the full history of every balance, meter, oven and testing machine: calibration certificates, intermediate checks, maintenance and usage. When calibration lapses, Futqual blocks the instrument from result entry.

What Instrument Log does

Capabilities on this station

Calibration schedules

Intervals per instrument with reminders 30, 7 and 1 day before due. External and in-house calibrations both supported.

BAL-02 · due 01 Nov 26

Certificates on file

Upload calibration certificates with traceability details, uncertainty and the calibrating lab accreditation number.

Use blocking

Results cannot be recorded against an instrument that is overdue, under maintenance or failed its last check.

Intermediate checks

Daily balance checks, pH buffer checks and reference standard checks with acceptance limits and trends.

Maintenance and breakdowns

Planned maintenance, breakdown logs and service visits, with the instrument out of use until it is released.

Usage records

Every result records the instrument used. See all samples tested on an instrument between any two dates.

Impact analysis when a check fails

If a balance fails its daily check, you need to know which results it touched since the last good check. Futqual lists them in seconds.

  • Results linked to instrument, date and analyst
  • Affected samples listed from last passing check
  • Hold reports that are not yet released
  • Raise a client notification for released reports

Calibration labs: your own reference standards

Calibration labs track masters and working standards with their own traceability chain, uncertainty budgets and recall dates.

  • Reference and working standards with traceability
  • Uncertainty contributions stored per standard
  • Recall and re-verification schedules
  • Environmental conditions logged for each calibration

How it runs

Four steps at this station

STEP 01

Register

Add instruments with ID, make, model, range, location and interval.

STEP 02

Calibrate

Upload certificates and set the next due date automatically.

STEP 03

Check

Record intermediate checks with acceptance limits and trends.

STEP 04

Use

Analysts select instruments at result entry. Invalid ones are blocked.

Questions

About Instrument Log

Balances and meters with RS-232 or USB output can send readings directly to worksheets. Chromatography and spectroscopy systems can import their export files. Integrations are part of the 1 litre plan.

No. A blocked instrument has to be released by recording a new calibration or a passing check. This keeps the record clean for assessments.

Only the current certificate is needed to start. Many labs upload the last two cycles so the history is in one place.
